It's Election Day!

Today, Tuesday, September 14, is preliminary voting day here in Salem, and whoever you support, the most important thing is that you get to the polls and make your voice heard!

What you need to know:

Salem is comprised of 7 wards, and each ward has 2 precincts. Each ward and precinct votes in its own location, and each ward has a different ballot! All Salem voting locations are open on Election Day from 7:00am to 8:00pm. If you have not yet voted early, or voted by mail, today is your big day to get to the polls and be heard!

On Election Day:

• Wear a Facial Covering

• Social Distance

• Bring a Pen BLUE OR BLACK INK ONLY (Marking Pens will still be provided and sanitized throughout the day.)

• Keep your ballot dry and free from hand sanitizers

• Bring a Clip Board or Book to mark your ballot on (in case you don’t want to use a Voting Booth)

• Bring an ID (In some cases voters will be required to show an ID. It does not have to be a photo ID, BUT it must contain your name and address as registered. Acceptable forms of ID include utility bill, paycheck stub, driver’s license, etc.)

First step for everyone:

Click here to make sure you are registered to vote, and in which ward and precinct you live.

Next step:

Scroll down to your specific ward and precinct, to learn not only where you are voting, but who is on your ballot for today's preliminary election.

If, instead, you already have a mail-in ballot in your hand that you need to drop off, you can do so until no later than 8:00 P.M. today at any of the following drop box locations:

  • Fire Station Headquarters, 48 Lafayette Street

  • Fire Station #5, 64 Loring Avenue

  • Fire Station #4, 415 Essex Street

  • Fire Station #2, 142 North Street
